The central section to the top of this wonderful Middle Eastern Gaming Table had been covered with a large wooden disk where, for many years vases of flowers were placed. An inherited piece, the client was curious to see what was beneath it and so the decision was made to remove it.
Easing the adhesive which held it firm, the disk revealed a badly
damaged centre and much of the intricate inlay work missing. Using period timbers, sections from a variety of species were cut to size and laminated to make the missing pieces and many hours of work required to reconstruct it. Once completed, the entire top was lightly cleaned and replaced to match the original. Finally, a thorough waxing completed the project.
